Fall In Love With God’s Righteousness

In Acknowledge God’s Gift Of Righteousness I introduced the first practical thing that you should do to pursue godly righteousness. The second thing you should do is:

Ask God to give you a love for righteousness.

“But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.’”
Hebrews 1: 8-9

Pray that you will actually fall in love with righteousness. Just like some folks love cleanliness. One of my members once told me that he loved cleanliness; he just can’t stand filth. He loves beauty, and spotlessness. In contrast, there are some Christians that are like pigs. They love dirt; the dirtier the better. Some other folks just like order. They like it not for any particular thing.  They just love it; it appeals to their heart.

In the same way, pray to love righteousness. Pray that you just love to be clean; you just love to be pure. You just love to not have guilt in you; you love to always have a pure heart. One of the benefits is that when you have a pure heart, you’re bold. When you have a pure heart, you’re joyful; you’re happy; you’re free; you feel light. Ask God to help you to develop a taste for righteousness.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
~Matthew11: 23

In addition, also pray that God would give you hunger and thirst for it. Because those that hunger and thirst after righteousness will be satisfied. So every day you have to thirst for it; you have to desire for it. Say to God, “I want to be righteous in my thoughts. I want to be righteous this day in what I say, and in what I do.” When you are passionate, and are crying after it, the bible says that you’re blessed.

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.”
~Isaiah 55:1

What’s more, remember that desire is the currency of the spirit. And God begins to release the power into your mind because that’s where you need it. You already have it in your spirit. When God begins to channel it into your mind and body, you come to the point in your life where you actually hate sin. You can’t stand sin anymore, because God is working in your life.

Memory Verse:
Matthew11: 23
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please give me a love for righteousness. Help me, Father, to hunger and thirst for it, because I know that I shall be satisfied, in Jesus’ mighty name.
Amen.
