James 4:4 NLT | “You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.”
I shared the other time about not loving the world. It meant to not fancy nor adopt the same values as the world. Today’s scripture reminds us that friendship with the world (which by default is God’s enemy) makes us enemies of God.
You live as an enemy of God when you fancy and adopt the same values as the world. You live as an enemy of Christ when you reject and oppose His ways. You live as an enemy of God when your mind is focused on earthly and temporal things. You live as an enemy of God when you make your belly your God, that is, when you’re loyal to your own desires, as opposed to the Holy Spirit’s.
I pray today that the Holy Spirit will give you the courage to live for Him alone, and cause every attraction to the world in you to die. Amen!
