Don’t Let The Hurt Cripple You

“Then said He unto the disciples, ‘it is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!’”
~ Luke 17: 1 (KJV)

People around you are not perfect, so they are going to make mistakes; and some of their mistakes will affect you. Some of them will do something unintentionally that affects you adversely. People can hurt you or heal you. It can happen to you, so be ready for it.

In addition, some people actually hurt you deliberately. They know what makes you cry, and they do it. Some folks are seriously perverted; they know that you don’t like something, but they keep doing it deliberately.

I remember when I was growing up, I hated the sound produced when a metal scratches, for instance, a marble floor. There were those who knew that I hated the sound, but once they see me around, they will start scratching a metal Coca Cola bottle cover on the floor. And true to form, I will start screaming. Now, that’s wickedness. So, there are a lot of people who are simply perverted.

However, don’t get bitter. The reason the devil inspires people like that is not necessarily because of the pain, but the bitterness that comes as a result of it. Satan inspires people to hurt you so as to make you bitter. It’s not merely the pain of the hurt that he’s after; he wants to cripple you with bitterness. Don’t let that happen to you. He simply wants to cripple you; he wants to defeat your speed; your birth right; destroy your work; and your communion with God.

Memory Verse:
Luke 17: 1 (KJV)
“Then said He unto the disciples, ‘it is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!’”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please take away any bitterness in my heart.  Strengthen me by your indwelling Spirit to not be bitter when people hurt me knowingly or unknowingly, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
