The devil understands that if he can sabotage the revelation of God to you, he will sabotage your mission. You can’t fulfill God’s assignment for you if another’s revelation of God is imposed on you, as happens in religion. The true mission of religion is to sabotage revelation. You can’t express the variety of divinity that you are called to showcase if someone else’s personal revelation of God is foisted on you, as goes on today in different churches.
When we look at the same God we see different things. Just like when we individually stand before a mirror, each person sees his own reflection; same mirror but different reflections depending on who is standing before it per time.
In Dare To Discover And Walk In Your Personal Truth I shared the following story from the life of Jesus:
“But Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away”, she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him”. At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
“Woman”, he said, “why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him”.
Jesus said to her, “Mary”. She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).
Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”
~John 20:11-17
Quite an interesting story.
Now, take a careful look at the last line of that conversation: “I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”
I got very curious reading that last part. Why didn’t Jesus just say our Father, and our God? Why use ‘my Father and your Father, my God and your God’ instead?
Why did He make that kind of distinction? He chose to say that for a very important reason: It’s the same God, but the God Mary knew is a variety different from the one Jesus knew. Your God is a different variety from mine. This in turn affects how He talks to you; it decides your possibilities.
If you are not watchful, and wise, those that profit from organized religion will sabotage your uniqueness and mission. Organized religion is dangerous to personal divine revelation, and hence to your personal walk with God, and you mission in time and space.
Be watchful; be wise. Don’t let religion sabotage your mission.
