Proverbs 21:16-17 NIV | “Whoever strays from the path of prudence comes to rest in the company of the dead. Whoever loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and olive oil will never be rich.”
The path of prudence is the path to life. It is the path of the Holy Spirit; of those who acknowledge and submit to Her. It is also however, the path that leads through the strait, narrow, and difficult road.
Fools – whoever does not acknowledge and submit to God – cannot walk on that path. Anyone who loves the pleasures of this fleeting world cannot walk on it. Your addiction to its thrills and its pursuit will leave you empty and ultimately alienated from the Spirit.
You end up in the company of the dead – alienated from the Holy Spirit – by fellowshipping with the dead world and loving what they love. You avoid this by avoiding their fellowship. May you not stray. May you not drift. Receive godly sense in Jesus name!
