Yesterday, we saw how Abraham did not waver regarding the promise of God. He did not stagger.
Romans 4:20-21 NLT
Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. [21] He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.
That implies that certain forces came against His faith.
Those forces wanted him panic and give up hope. They wanted him to give in to doubt and abandon God’s promises.
This is normal. Whenever God gives us His word, it’s usually in the midst of negative circumstances: lack, sickness, discouragement, and so on. Those circumstances will then attempt to make us waver regarding God’s Word.
Unfortunately, in the majority of cases, people give in to their doubts and give up on the word. Maybe because they weren’t prepared for the forces that would attempt to shake their faith.
Don’t let that happen to you. Be prepared against the inevitable challenge to your faith. Guard your heart against the negative circumstances that will arise to challenge God’s Word in your life.
How?
- Know that circumstances will arise to challenge what God has promised you; to make you doubt and question it; to make you abandon it. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of God’s Word in each and every moment that you’ll need it.
- Think only on God’s promises; never on the negative circumstances surrounding you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you do this.
- Stay in fellowship with fellow believers—those who are also trusting God with you. Encourage them to hold on, and be encouraged by them too.
