You Need To Discover Why God Works

Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.”                                                                                                   ~ John 5:17

Why does God work?

This is an interesting question, because when you think of it, God really doesn’t have to work. He is the Almighty All-Sufficient Sovereign of the entire Universe. He doesn’t need anything.

So, why does He even work in the first place?

Definitely not for the money. He created the universe and everything in it.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1

The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the LORD Almighty.”
Haggai 2:8

So, God doesn’t need money.

And definitely not for food!

“For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.”                                                                                                            Psalms 50:10-12

God doesn’t need food.

So, why then does God work?

I just want you to ponder on this question today for two reasons:

First of all, you are His offspring.  You come from Him. And since you are from Him, you should function according to His nature. When you find out why He works, that should be the same reason you work.

Secondly, according to the scriptures, you are a co-laborer with God. You are His partner in shaping lives and destinies. And if you’re working for a different reason from God, you’ll be operating at crosscurrents to Him, and that is going to create conflicts between you and Him.

To walk in harmony with Him, you need to discover why God works, what your work is, and then do your work the same way.
