Depression; A Symptom of Self-Centeredness

Depression is a symptom of self-centeredness. It is a mark of selfishness.  When what you always notice is how people failed to help and support you, how others failed to give you, how God failed to give you, you will suffer from depression. However, when your life is such that you constantly think of how to be a blessing to other people, depression will flee from you. You will always be walking in joy, in happiness; and this comes from a place of prayer.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
~Matthew 5:13 -16

Jesus says that you are the salt of the earth, and the light of the world. So focus on being a blessing to others and depression will leave you. When you are walking in this mindset, it will be difficult for you to be depressed.

Pray every morning that God will make you a blessing to every one that you come in contact with, in Jesus name.

Amen.

Memory Verse:
Genesis 12: 2
“I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, please help to take my eyes off my challenges and focus on being a blessing to those I come in contact with today, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
