Come On God’s Terms, Not Yours

Matthew 22:11‭ AMP | “But when the king came in to see the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed [appropriately] in wedding clothes.

The king in this story had instructed his servants to go out into the street and invite whoever they saw to his banquet, after his main guests failed to come. Now, even though it was an open invitation, the king demanded that they appear a certain way. He was furious at the one man who didn’t obey his command, and ordered that he be thrown out and punished.

God is that King. The foundation of His throne is righteousness and justice. He is a God of principles. Disobedience to His word incurs His wrath. To walk with Him, we must appear a certain way. We must compete according to His rules. We must come on His terms, and not ours.

May you never take the graciousness of God for granted. May you not let your reverence for Him be eroded into. May familiarity and mediocrity not rob you of your place in destiny. May your sense of rightness and appropriateness derive from His word. Bliss be with you!
