The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is not a doctrine to be learnt and mastered. He is not topic or subject to be discussed.

He is God Himself.

He is a Person; too deep and mysterious, though, to be fathomed by human or angelic minds.

He appeared to me first at the age of 17 and introduced Himself to me. And ever since that day, I’ve longed to know Him more and more.

He is compassionate. Very loving and kind. He is supremely patient. I can’t even begin to describe how patient He has been with me through all these years.

Yet, what I love the most about Him is that He knows everything. I mean, everything.

I remember once this website was hacked by some malicious actors. I had never seen that level of coding and hacking before. Even my tech support people were at a lost on what to do. They battled to recover the website for over 48 hours without success.

When all hopes seemed to be lost, I walked to the window in my room, looked out and thought of the Holy Spirit. And in that moment, I felt His presence. And I asked Him to help us.

Seconds later, He gave me an instruction on what to do. It looked so unrelated to the problem at hand. But I’ve come to trust Him absolutely. So I went back to my computer and did exactly as He told me.

To my greatest surprise, and joy, the malicious codes disappeared from the server, and the website came back online as though nothing happened.

The action He instructed me to take was by far beyond my level experience or expertise. To this day, I have no clue what I did, neither can I replicate it or teach it to anyone.

In fact, I ran downstairs immediately to where Pastor Sharon was in the kitchen and said to her, “I think I’m possessed!”

She looked at me matter-of-factly and replied, “Didn’t you know?”

Yes! I’m possessed! By the Holy Spirit!

He is everything to me, and I love Him beyond words.

Today, I pray to know Him even more. To fall deeper and deeper and deeper in love with Him. To be completely submitted to Him in all aspects of my life.

And I pray the same for all His Blissful People everywhere. In Jesus name.

One Of These Days You’ll See Him Face To Face

Your desire for the Holy Spirit is intense. Your heart cries out to know Him more. You want to know Him intimately. You want to hear His voice each and every moment; comforting you; guiding you.

But you live in this very carnally minded world, full of distractions: pressures from worldly friends and family; pressures from the necessities of daily living; pressures from the pains and struggles of life’s challenges.

You wonder if you could ever have peace. Would you ever have the kind of intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit that you crave?

The answer is yes. Yes you can. And yes you will. Because, He is with you. Always with you.

So be relentless in reminding yourself that He’s with you; whether you feel it or not. Accept this as infallible truth.

Continue to ask Him to help you feel His presence and hear His voice. Never stop asking Him to keep you focused on Him; following hard after Him.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please him : for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

You believe in Him. You love Him. By His Grace, you will continue to diligently seek Him. And one of these days, you’ll see Him face to face, and hear His voice as clearly as I can hear these birds singing just outside my windows.

Bliss be with you, my Blissful People. 🙏💕

His Hands Are Stretched Out Of Heaven Towards You

Relationships are tough. Very tough. Married couples will tell you that, without blinking an eye. You could live with your spouse for years without even coming close to understanding them. Many give up eventually after a few years of trying and failing.

Now, if relationships with people are that tough, if it’s so difficult to understand and keep up with someone you can see and touch, how much more difficult would it be to have a relationship with Someone you can neither see nor touch?

So, relationship with the Holy Spirit can be extraordinarily difficult. He is Spirit and in the spirit realm. But especially, because His ways and thoughts are infinitely elevated above that of men.

Yet, He has invited us to have a relationship with Him. And the good thing about it is that He promises to help us.

So, don’t be discouraged. And don’t give up in your quest to know the Holy Spirit more intimately. But don’t even think you can do it on your own. Because you can’t.

John 6:44 NIV
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Today, I see His hands stretched out of heaven towards you. Take them in your heart. Trust Him in your heart to draw you closer to Himself and reveal Himself to you.

May your heart always pant for Him.
In Jesus name.

That You Might Grow In Your Knowledge Of God

Are you growing in your knowledge of God?
Or are you stagnant there?

Let me ask the question in simpler terms:

Are you getting to know God better? Are you becoming more intimate with Him and enjoying greater harmony in your relationship with Him?

What does He like? What does He dislike?
What do you like the most about Him? What does He like the most about you?

How has your relationship with Him progressed? Along what direction have you noticed your relationship with Him moving?

I’m asking these questions with the firm conviction that you already know God personally, and would love to know Him even more.

I believe you love Him and prefer Him over and above everything else.

Whatever your answers to the questions above might be, I pray the following prayers over you:

Ephesians 1:17 NLT
…asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.

2 Peter 1:2 NLT
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.

It’s Ok To Be Weak

The following statement sounds really cool and lofty. But it’s a lie from Lucifer.

Heaven helps those who help themselves.

It’s a lie from the pit of hell, fashioned by Satan Himself, through His principalities and human agents, to disconnect people from the help and grace of the Holy Spirit.

Don’t buy into that lie.

Here’s the truth.

2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

Did you see the truth?

My power works best in weakness.

So, Heaven actually helps those who are weak; those who cannot help themselves.

You can continue with the lie of Lucifer and keep acting strong and pretending you are in control and have it together.

Or you can reject Lucifer’s lie and embrace the Holy Spirit’s truth.

You know, one of the most powerful things you can do in this world is to acknowledge your weakness before God.

Stop acting. Stop pretending to be strong. Stop acting as if you have it all together.

It’s ok to be weak. It’s ok to feel overwhelmed. It’s ok to not know what to do. It’s ok to feel helpless. Because Heaven helps those who are weak; those who cannot help themselves.

Just say so before God. Preferably on your knees. Yes, get on your knees and say, “Oh God, help me. I don’t know what else to do. Help me. I am confused. Help me. I feel like quitting. Help me. I’m tired. Help me.”

Go on your knees immediately!

I see that situation turning around!
Something powerful and unexpected is about to break forth in your life.

You won’t believe what God is fixing to do. Your next testimony will shock you.

The Greatest Gain

Mark 6:38 KJV
He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

What you don’t already have doesn’t matter.
What counts is what you already have.
Because, abundance flows out of the awareness and appreciation of what you have.

So, what do you have?
Go and see.

And I’m not talking about your bank account; nor your material possessions.

I’m talking about your soul.

Do you personally know the One Who made you and gave you life? Are you in a love affair with Him? Are you completely submitted and loyal to Him?

Go and see.

To know the Holy Spirit personally and intimately, to be in a love affair with Him, to be completely submitted and loyal to Him in all things—that is godliness.

Do you have it?

Godliness is the greatest wealth of all wealth. If you are in a love affair with the Holy Spirit and completely loyal and submitted to Him, that in itself is infinite wealth!

And you should be absolutely content with it.

Celebrate it. Be grateful for it. Be thankful to God for it. Because it it the greatest gain.

1 Timothy 6:5-10 NIV
But godliness with contentment is the greatest gain.

May the Holy Spirit open your innermost eyes to see how truly rich you are in Christ. And may He help you become absolutely content with that. In Jesus name.

The Lord Opened Her Heart

Acts 16:13-15 NIV
[13] On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate to the river, where we expected to find a place of prayer. We sat down and began to speak to the women who had gathered there. [14] One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. [15] When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.

This story moved me so much. Especially the part where the Lord opened Lydia’s heart to respond to Paul’s message.

So beautiful to see what can happen when we just let the Holy Spirit do His work in our hearts.

Paul did not manipulate Lydia to host them in her house. No arm twisting. No coercing. It was completely of her own free volition, moved by the Holy Spirit.

And this is the ideal: Whether it’s attending church meetings, serving in the church, giving to the Lord—it must never be by compulsion, strong arm tactics, manipulations, coercion or intimidation.

2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV
[7] Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Lydia was not manipulated or intimidated into giving her home to the Lord and serving Him. She did it voluntarily and cheerfully. And she did so because the Lord opened her heart to respond to their message.

I love it when that happens, because it’s real, and it’s blissful.

Today is Financial Favour Friday. And, like Lydia, if the Holy Spirit Himself prompts you to give, then do so. Do it voluntarily. Do it cheerfully, as the Holy Spirit Himself moves you.

The Inestimable Value Of A Single Soul

Take a moment and reflect on the following words of Jesus Christ. What do you think about this word? What do you have to say about it?

Mark 8:36 KJV
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Personally, I see three things:

First of all, I see horrible possibility

It is possible for someone to gain the whole world and lose their own soul.

A person can become the wealthiest and most powerful man on earth and still lose their soul.

A man or woman can acquire and achieve all the goodies this world has to offer, yet lose their own soul.

What a horrible possibility!

And this is why we must never use material attainments, achievements and accomplishments to evaluate a person’s standing in the sight of God.

Secondly, I see the inestimable value of a soul

A single soul is more valuable than the whole world.

In other words, if you placed a single soul on a scale with the whole world, a single soul would weigh more.

If you put a single soul and the whole world up for sale in the market of eternity, a single soul will cost more.

This is mind-boggling.

Thirdly, I see a huge disparity between God’s value system and that of fallen humanity

This sick corrupt and lost world values money and earthly possessions more than a soul. This is disgusting.

God on the other hand easily gave up everything to save a single soul!

What a disparity!

Instead of selling your own soul for a bowl of porridge, may you gain it completely, even if it’s at the expense of everything else.

May the Holy Spirit Himself give us a revelation and complete understanding of the true value of a soul.

May we win and gain as many souls as we can.

In Jesus name!

Shining In A Doomed And Fading World

1 John 2:15-17 NLT
[15] Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. [16] For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. [17] And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

Note the things in the world:

  1. Craving for physical pleasure.
  2. Craving for everything we see.
  3. Pride in our achievements and possessions.

But also note that this world is fading away, along with everything in it that people crave.

A young man recently approached me after service to tell me about an ambitious project he is undertaking. He is attempting to raise millions of Naira for a real estate venture.

During the conversation, he told me he was doing this to glorify God. Unfortunately, when he said that, it sounded really ridiculous to me.

So I asked him:

“Have you ever taken a look at this planet we live in? The mountains, rivers, oceans and so on?

“Do you have any idea the size of a star and how many hundreds of billions there are?”

“Have you ever seen some of the beasts that dwell in the depths of the ocean?”

“And do you seriously think the Person that created all that will be impressed by a few pathetic blocks of worthless bricks and concrete?

Well, the young man just stared back at me like a zombie. I guess he wasn’t expecting me to respond as I did.

But such is what happens when we fall in love with the world and the things that are in the world. Then we become stupid and start thinking that the Creator of this Universe can be impressed by the size of our building and the cost of our cars; by our pitifully microscopic ‘achievements’.

1 John 2:17 NLT
And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

I lay down a challenge today for all Blissful People everywhere:

First of all, become established in the inevitable fact that this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. This world is not our home. We’re just passing through, and one day we’ll be gone from here.

Secondly, during your temporary passage through this doomed and fading world, focus all of your energy and time in nurturing an intimate, trusting and loyal relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Now watch this short video clip!

Shining In A Doomed And Fading World

Your Value Is Inestimable!

Luke 12:15 NIV
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

How do you measure your life and your worth? How do you evaluate your own personal success and standing in life? What yardsticks do you to assess your progress in life?

Heathens and pagans use abundance of possessions: money, jewelries, stock, lands, houses, cashflow and so on. Do you use the same? Is that how you measure your life?

If so, then receive deliverance in Jesus name!

Blissful People should not be conformed to worldly definitions of success. We use a different dictionary. Our value system is different. Our scale of preference is different. Our priorities are different. So, don’t adopt the ways of fallen humanity.

As God’s own beloved sons and daughters, our wealth can never and should never be measured in the abundance of material possessions. We’re infinitely worth more than those things.

We were purchased with the precious blood of the only Son of God Almighty Himself. And that is our worth! Nothing and no one can compare to that.

The Product, The Manual, The Maker

These days, most people own a phone.
I’m sure you own one.

You also know that the maker of your phone made it to function in a certain way. Then they produced a manual to guide the use of that phone for maximum benefit.

And as long as you operate your phone the way the maker designed it to be used, you’ll enjoy the phone.

You don’t even need to know the maker of the phone to enjoy the phone. All you need is follow the phone’s manual; the maker’s prescriptions on how to use the device.

Now, let’s think of life in the same way.

Job 33:4 NIV
The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Life is pretty much like your phone. Someone designed life and gave it to humans. He also created a manual to guide the use of life for maximum benefit.

This manual is primarily embedded in nature. If you are a meticulous observer of nature, and if you apply your observations to life, you should do well.

And just like your phone, you don’t even need to know the Maker of life personally in order to use and enjoy life. As long as you understand how life works, and adapt yourself to its principles, you’ll enjoy it.

But, what if you’re so intrigued by life that you want to know the Person behind it? What if your experience of life has triggered a desire in you to meet the Maker of such a beautiful product?

Then that makes you part of an extremely rare species of humans.

Led By The Holy Spirit (7)

Proverbs 14:12 KJV
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

That it seems right to you, doesn’t mean it’s really right for you on the long run. What seems right to you today —a marriage decision, a career choice, a business investment—may turn out to be the worst decision tomorrow.

It may appear reasonably and logically okay to your mind, but still be a deadly satanic trap that will eventually destroy your life.

So, human reason and logic are not reliable guides in the journey of life.

1 Corinthians 4:4 NIV
My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.

That your conscience is clear doesn’t mean you’re innocent.

Your conscience might be clear as you embark on that action, only for you to discover later that it was a terrible thing to do.

So, conscience too is not a dependable guide in the journey of life.

The only true and dependable guide is the Holy Spirit Himself.

John 16:13 NIV
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

May the Holy Spirit Himself guide you into all the truth. May He show you what is yet to come. In Jesus name.

The Mystery Of Abundance

Luke 4:16-19 NIV
[16] He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, [17] and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: [18] “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, [19] to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

In the scripture above, Jesus addresses Himself to four groups of people: the poor, the prisoners, the blind, and the oppressed.

To each one He declared His solution to their condition. Notice that every solution logically matched the problem except one:

Freedom is a logical solution for the bondage of prisoners.
Recovery of sight is a logical solution for the blindness of the blind.
Setting free is a logical solution for oppression of the oppressed.

Now, cash should have been the logical solution for the poverty of the poor. I would have said wealth or cash for the poor. That would have made more sense.

Instead He says, good news for the poor.

Good news here, of course, is not referring to the chaffy doctrines of manmade churchianity. Absolutely not!

Good news here rather refers to the living word of God.

And good news is received in the soul, not the pocket.

Let that sink in.

Because, what Jesus is revealing here is that It’s not what happens in your pocket that breaks the backbone of poverty in your life, it’s what happens in your soul; in your mind. This is the mystery of abundance.

That is, receiving money into your pocket will not destroy poverty. No matter how big.

To break the backbone of poverty in any life, family or nation, what you need is not cash. What you need is good news: that is, the light of God penetrating the soul, renewing the mind and transforming that soul into a prosperous soul.

The entrance of this light from the Source of life is extremely powerful. It’s a revelation; an awareness. Gradually you see yourself like the ocean; infinite and inexhaustible.

This light and awareness breaks that fear of lack that makes people cling to things. You suddenly realize that all things are yours. That you’re one with God and His inexhaustible riches. That you are already blessed and prosperous.

Can you even start to imagine what this can do to you?

And the moment this awareness hits you, your soul is transformed into a liberal soul: a blessed, prosperous soul; because that word liberal actually means blessed or prosperous.

This soul prosperity in turn makes you fat—that is, releases the anointing. This anointing flows into your mind and starts to saturate, enlighten and empower you with the riches of eternal wisdom, grace, discernment, courage and everything that manifests your soul abundance in the natural realm.

Proverbs 11:25 KJVS
The liberal (that is, blessed or prosperous) soul shall be made fat (anointed with oil): and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

And as a result this oil on your prosperous soul, overflow begins to happen; manifesting in giving to God and man; in being a blessing.

Psalm 23:5 NIV
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Let Your Giving Flow From An Attitude Of Abundance

Proverbs 11:25 KJVS
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

The word translated ‘liberal’ in the above verse literally means blessing, or prosperity.

So a proper way to read the above verse would be, “The blessed or prosperous soul shall be made fat.”

Reflect on that. Let it sink in.

This verse is not talking about your pocket, purse or bank account. It’s rather referring to your soul—your mind; your mentality; your attitude about yourself.

Abundance is a state of mind. It is how you feel about your self; how you see yourself. It’s not the state of your pocket or bank account. It’s not about what you have or what you don’t have. It’s an inward feeling and perspective of yourself.

Giving is not for stingy souls: Those who see giving as a means to financial gain; Those who want to be blessed through their giving; those who expect to be blessed because they gave—it is not for such.

Giving is for liberal souls: those who know they are already blessed; those who see giving as an opportunity to express their love to the Holy Spirit, to refresh others, to be a blessing—this is what it means to give from an attitude of abundance.

Don’t give so you will be blessed.
Give because you are already blessed.

Genesis 12:2 NIV
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

Observe the order here. God blessed Abram before he became a blessing. So first things first. Before you can be a blessing, you have to be blessed.

  1. First you are blessed.
  2. Then you become a blessing.

Many people reverse the order: They want to be a blessing so they can be blessed; they want to give so they can be blessed. That’s reverse order.

The right order is that you’re blessed by God, then you become a blessing.

Genesis 28:22 NIV
…and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth. ”

Of all that you give me I will give a tenth.
Notice the order: First God gives. Then I give.

Only the blessed can be a blessing. If you don’t feel blessed, if you don’t think you’re already blessed, please don’t give yet. Wait till you know you’re blessed. Then give.

Today is Financial Favour Friday!

Let your giving today flow from an attitude of abundance. Not from a mentality of scarcity and neediness. In other words, give because you know you’re blessed. Give because you feel blessed. Give because you feel abundant.

You Can Live In This World Without Even Thinking Of The Next Day

Most people worry about tomorrow. Some more often than others. It’s natural part of being human in a challenging world.

But, according to Jesus, you shouldn’t be doing that.

Matthew 6:34 KJV
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

He says don’t even think of it! Like, zero thought for tomorrow.

You see, worrying about tomorrow won’t make tomorrow any better. In fact, it’ll make it worse. Furthermore, it will drag you into the pit of misery and diverse illnesses. So, it’s a terrible idea.

But I’m sure we already know that. So, why do we keep worrying about tomorrow?

Could it be because we’ve resigned ourselves to the lie that it’s not possible to live that way?

Well, it may be humanly impossible. Actually, it is humanly impossible. However, with God all things are possible.

Only the Holy Spirit Himself can produce a worry-free, no-thought-for-tomorrow blissful experience on earth. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you can live in this world without even thinking of the next day. With Him it’s very possible.

But you’ve got to accept that possibility, and choose to live that way. You should do so, because Jesus Himself told us to take zero thought about tomorrow.

Accept and choose that possibility. Then ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Ask Him to free you from the rat race of endless worries and anxieties.

Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you.

Choose Your Kind And Stick With Her

John 17:16 KJV
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

This verse implies that there are two kinds of people in this world:

  1. Those that are of the world.
  2. Those that are not of the world.

Each kind has her pattern; her ways; her values.
Which one do you belong to?
Choose your kind.

If you are of the world, then by all means, conform to her pattern. Walk in her ways. Adopt her values.

But if you are not of the world, then why do you conform to her pattern? Why do you walk in her ways? Why do you adopt her values?

The two can’t mix.

The ways of the world will only work for her people. It won’t work for those of the Spirit. If people of the spirit adopt the values of the world, they’ll fail miserably.

So people of the Spirit must walk in the ways of the Spirit. Stick with the Spirit. Live, move and have your being in Him. Follow Him only. Be attached to Him alone. Radically focus on Him. Restrict yourself to His boundaries.

In short, let’s pray the following Psalm.

Psalm 86:11 NLT
Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.

The Only One You Should Be Attached To

John 17:16 KJV
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Blissfuls are not from this world. We are from the Holy Spirit.

You come from another place, from another world, from another dimension—the Spirit.

Yes, you’re here for a while to fulfill divine purpose before you go back to where you came from. But, you’re definitely not from this world.

Therefore, do not get attached to the things of this world. Don’t even love them. Don’t let them appeal to you. Don’t become interested in them. Don’t let them seduce you and break your focus.

Don’t forget who you are and where you come from.

You are here on an important assignment. It could be to your family, to the church, to the business world, to the nation you live in, and so on.

Whatever the case may be, you’re on an assignment here. Your Heavenly Father sent you here to fulfill divine purpose.

And the Holy Spirit Himself is your guide through this world. Ensure that you prioritize your relationship with Him as the most important. He is the only one that truly knows why you are here. He is the only one that can lead you to your own personal success in destiny. And He is the only One you should be attached to.

I’m asking the Holy Spirit today to keep you pure and unspotted from this world. I also pray that He’ll make your purpose here clear to you, and guide you in the way He has marked for you. In Jesus name.

The Holy Spirit Is Our Habitat

Acts 17:28 NIV
‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’

Reflect on this: The Holy Spirit is our habitat.

Like a fish in the water, like a lion in the jungle, in Him we live and move and have our being. He defines our boundaries.

Everything God has given you is located within those boundaries. As long as you’re living, moving, and having your being within the boundaries of the Spirit, all that the Father has given you will gracefully come to you with zero struggle and stress.

Furthermore, as long as you are living, moving and having your being within the boundaries of the Holy Spirit, you’re invincible.

Satan understands all this better than you can ever imagine. Which is why he has just one goal: To lure you out of your habitat. To bait you out of the boundaries of the Holy Spirit. That’s all he cares about. Nothing else matters to Him.

So, he’ll stop at nothing to distract you. He’ll use anything and anyone: church folks, business, family, spouse, enemies; makes no difference; he’ll use whatever is available.

You must be aware of this so you don’t play into his sneaky hands. Guard your heart and protect your focus with all diligence.

But, always remember that you’re not in this all by yourself. We’ve got the Holy Spirit Himself with us, just as Jesus Christ promised. Let us always remember to ask for His help. He’s our Ever Present Help, and He will keep you from falling.

Radical Focus

Read the following story very carefully. Pay particular attention to my emphasis in the verses.

Luke 10:38-40 KJV
[38] Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. [39] And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. [40] But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

Note that quiet underlined phrase in the KJV version of the story: ‘which also sat at Jesus feet’. Especially the word ‘also’.

When you ponder the the entire story in the light of the highlighted phrases, you get the sense that Martha was initially sitting at the feet of Jesus with Mary.

Here’s my personal reconstruction of the story:

  • Martha —a forceful domineering type character —received Jesus into her house.
  • She sat at His feet and started to listen to Him
  • The forceful controlling person that she is, she made Mary join her. Both sisters now sat at Jesus’ feet listening to Him.
  • But then Martha got distracted, and expected Mary to follow suit as well.
  • This time, however, Mary made a choice to stay put at Jesus feet.
  • Martha got offended and attacked Jesus.
  • Mary, however, ignored her and let Jesus deal with the matter.

Martha represents those children of God that succumb to distractions. They allow the things that have to be done to get to them and break their focus. Unknown to this group, Satan is using the challenges of daily living to distract, deceive, discourage, defeat and destroy them.

On the other hand, Mary represents the Blissful People. In reality, she faced an even greater force of distraction than Martha. Martha was distracted by the things that had to be done. Mary, however, was being pressured by her forceful and controlling sister. Nevertheless, she prevailed and maintained her focus.

She was radically focused on the Lord!

I urge all Blissful People everywhere to walk in the radical focus of Mary—commit to a radical focus on the Holy Spirit.

But, beware of the Marthas in the Kingdom. Its very important to note that distracted children of God become distractions themselves. Beware of such people. Pray for them, but keep your distance. Otherwise they’ll corrupt you and drag you into their carnality.

I’m not worried about the people of the world one bit. I’m more wary of God’s people who have become distracted by worldly values. Because they become powerful agents of distractions. And if you’re not careful, they’ll succeed where Satan has failed, and drag you into the rat race.

Luke 10:42 NIV
… Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Like Mary, Blissfuls must make a firm choice everyday to stay put at the Lord’s Feet. Choose daily to radically focus on the Lord, in spite of all that has to be done; in spite the Marthas in Kingdom.

Faith For The Impossible

I want us to go green and off grid at the Holy Place —our Enugu Mission Center in Nigeria. Specifically, to generate all our electricity from solar, completely independent of any external power company. This has always been my strong desire and firm decision from day one.

But then, good things rarely come cheap. To go green and off grid at the Holy Place, we’ll  need to dish out a few million Naira. An amount I do not physically have, nor have any clues on how to get—except, of course, that God is able to supply.

As I pondered the challenge, I began to consider all the ways I could cut costs. Maybe even settle for something less than the ideal I imagined.

Surprisingly, the Holy Spirit said, “No.”

Instead, He put a really significant amount in my mind and told me to go for that.

I had no idea where or how to raise such an amount of money on a very short notice. In response, He told me that wasn’t my business since God would provide the money for me.

That set up a conflict in my mind; between the Word of the Holy Spirit, and my logical human reasoning.

This conflict has been on now for a while, and it’s been quite interesting.

I am constantly tempted every minute to go for a capacity I can conveniently afford. But the Holy Spirit wouldn’t let me.

At some point, I had multiple ideas on how to settle for a much less capacity than I originally wanted. This would cost far less than the amount He put in my mind. In fact, I wouldn’t even need faith to get it.

But He wouldn’t let me.

And this is the most beautiful part of it all: how He has continued to gently encourage me to put my feet down on that specific amount He gave me.

The problem is, I have no single idea how this amount He’s mentioning would come.

“That’s exactly the beauty of it,” He responded.

“You have no idea how it would come,” He continued. “But I do. I just haven’t told you. I simply need you to trust Me and let Me blow your mind. It’s so much fun for Me. I love doing that.”

“But I also love to stretch your faith and expand you in the process so you’ll be able to hold more capacity from Me and bless more lives.”

“Don’t be timid,” He said. “And don’t wobble in doubt and double mindedness. Put your feet down on that amount and don’t cave in to convenient alternatives.”

Well, He’s helped me thus far, and my little mustard seed faith seems to be growing by the day. My heart is also expanding by the day.

And so far, I’ve already successfully resisted and rejected several convenient and cheaper alternatives.

I’m not there yet, but I’m well on my way. It’s a journey of faith.

The Living Room at the Holy Place: Wildfire Mission Center, Enugu, Nigeria.

Do you have a project before you that you have no idea how to fund? Then welcome to the journey of faith. Let us travel together. We will definitely get there by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Right now I’m praying for you. May the Holy Spirit help you to put your feet down on the amount you require. May He help you to resist and reject convenient and cheaper alternatives. May He help you to believe and hold on for the impossible. In Jesus name.
