At The Scent Of Water

Job 14:8-‬9 NIV | “Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud.”

I shared this word sometime from a different perspective. The preceeding verse to today’s scripture says that there is hope for a tree that is cut down.

The tree has the hope and chance of budding, sprouting, and fruiting, because its roots and stump remain connected to the soil, and because of the presence of water. As plantings of God’s purpose, the Holy Spirit is the atmosphere of our spirits. She is our habitat, and that very much needed water.

The circumstances of life may cut down your dreams and your expectations, and make God’s will for you appear elusive. You may face denials, delays, and misfortunes, that weigh on you. But because you have Christ – the rivers of living water – in you, there’s hope of revival, and restoration. At the scent of water, you will bud and fruit again!
