If you are a Christian, you ought to carry your family along in your walk with God. Establish a regular family devotion in your home.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
~Matthew 5:13 -16
The reason a lot of Christian folks might find it hard to gather their family for prayer is because they’ve not been good examples to their family members. If you are walking in the Spirit of Christ in your home, if you’re walking in love in your home, if you’re living an exemplary godly life, you will find it easy to bring your family together.
If you can’t bring your family together for prayer, then something is wrong with you. Having a regular family devotion is one of the ways to tear down all the stupid walls that exist between us and our families. It’s an abomination to have people who live in the same home but can’t pray together; it’s an error. All these walls can only come down by the Spirit of God; by the power of God.
Usually why Christian folks don’t have a voice in their homes is because their character is not godly. Imagine you fight with somebody in your home, how then can you tell the person to come for family devotion? Imagine they see you living an unclean life, how then will they join you to pray?
One of the mothers in my home church once said something to me about her daughter. She told me that her daughter has a godly character. Now I believe that the daughter in question is a Christian because her mother has given testimony.
What is your mother saying about you?
What is your younger brother saying about you?
What is your wife saying about you?
What is your husband saying about you?
What are your siblings saying about you?
Can they testify that you’re a Christian?
Memory Verse:
Matthew 5:13 -15
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”Prayer:
Precious Holy Spirit, please help me to live an exemplary life so that I can be an effective witness for You in my family, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
