Anything That Destroys Your Body Is Wrong

If you are born-again, you have been given the gift of righteousness. You have the power to be holy and righteous; begin to express that in your thoughts, and in your body. Pursue righteousness by avoiding sin.

“No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.”
~1 John 3:9

There are even people in the church who secretly smoke cigarette. You might wonder, “Pastor Favour, is smoking cigarette a sin?” YES; and a big one at that! Because you body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Your body is the temple of the living God. Anything that destroys your body is wrong. Any habit that harms your body is wrong. Your body should be an instrument of righteousness.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
~Romans 12:1-2

Are you supposed to get a mutilated animal to God? Do you want to present an animal with a blind eye, or a broken limb to God? The bible says that you should present your bodies to God as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable, and pleasing to God. You can’t be pumping smoke into your body, and say that it is not a sin. You can’t be pumping alcohol into your body, and say that is not a sin. Whatever you do to your body that is wrong is destroying the temple of the living God.

Pursue godly righteousness in your body, and desist from anything that destroys your body.

Memory Verse:
Romans 12:1-2

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Prayer:
