Today’s post is primarily targeted at those of my readers who are pastors of Christian congregational churches. A lot of those who read my blog posts are ministers of the gospel; they usually come here to get sermons for their congregations. I’m humbled by that, and I appreciate all you.
Now, here’s an important message for you: In spite of whatever financial pressures you may be under, never ever teach your members, or subtly encourage them, to borrow to give to God.
If you teach your members to borrow to give to God, you’re teaching them to steal. Giving to God does not warrant borrowing. God has already told us in His word that we will not borrow, instead we will lend to others:
“For the Lord your God will bless you as He has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none…”
~Deuteronomy 15:6
So if because of a need in your ministry, you encourage them to borrow, to steal, and to disobey God, then know that that money is cursed. Maybe you need to buy a land, build a cathedral, or some other project, and you teach your congregation to borrow; that money is cursed and that building, facility, or project is cursed. Giving to God is not a justification to borrow.
Then again, if you’re not a pastor, but you have one who teaches you to borrow to give to God, then I urge you to give him this message. Go to him today after reading this post – you can even give him a video of this message to watch. Tell him that he’s been lying and deceiving his congregation. You don’t borrow to give. You give to God out of what he has already given to you.
As a Christian, you must know what God has said in His word concerning giving to Him. Arm yourself with God’s word against charlatans who try to rob God’s people under the guise of giving to Him. Giving to God is not an occasion to borrow.
Memory Verse:
Deuteronomy 15:6
“For the Lord your God will bless you as He has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none…”Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You that You will bless me as You have promised, and I will lend to many nations but will borrow from none, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
