Always Strive To Please God

In Imitate God In Your Thoughts And Actions I explained one thing it means to pursue God’s righteousness as His child. Here’s another element involved in pursuing the righteousness that comes from God:

To pursue the righteousness that comes from God means that every single moment of your life, you always strive to do what is right and pleasing before God. For instance, you can’t pick quarrels with people, and expect that that is pleasing to God. You can’t have a nasty attitude and think that God is pleased with you. You can’t lie and cheat, and assume that your actions are pleasing to God.

You can’t be bitter, jealous and envious, and expect that that is pleasing to God. You can’t be arrogant and haughty and think that your attitude pleases God. You can’t be stingy with your resources, won’t help people around you, and expect that God is pleased with you.

“So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.”
~2 Corinthians 5: 9

To succeed at pleasing God, you have to make it a goal. For instance, if you’re a student you can’t cheat in your exams, and still claim that your life pleases God. Your Christianity must be practical! Aim to please God in all you do. When you do that, the righteousness that comes from God will characterize your life and experiences.

Memory Verse:
2 Corinthians 5: 9
“So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please help me to always strive to do what is right and pleasing before You. Deliver me from anything I do that is offensive to You, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
