A Secret To Bliss

Life is like the ocean. It has ebbs and flows. Sometimes your blessings are surging onto the shore like the waves. At other times it seems as though the tide has gone out and may never return. As Rev said before, “life is life”. 

In my short experience in this journey called life I’ve picked a few things along the way. I mean, frankly, life is one big classroom; filled with a multitude of lessons. If you are wise you learn, make adjustments and move on. 

I want to share a secret to bliss I’ve learned along the way and pass it along to you. It’s a key to a blissful life. To me a blissful life has no room for stress or hate. It is a life full of love, peace and joy in His presence. 

I present this scripture to you for your consideration:

James‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬| “Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.”

Life has a way of humbling you. In different seasons you may find yourself in a situation that makes you realize how weak you are in your humanity. These  moments I personally really do not care for. No one really likes to feel weak. 

I find it very interesting that James is saying that humble circumstances are a high position. Talk about renewing the mind, that is a new way of thinking for sure. When I am in a humble circumstance (anything that makes you realize your weakness), I normally will not think of myself in a high position. 

Look at what the Apostle Paul has to say about humble circumstances. 

Philippians 4:11-13| “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

Apostle Paul had learned a thing or two in his own journey in this big classroom of called life. Here he is sharing a secret with us all. This is what I call the secret to bliss

It is this: to be content. He is saying, whether the waves of blessings are coming in or the tide is gone out on my favor, I’m content. 

The only way to be content in every circumstance is to put your trust in the One who is all knowing, all powerful, all sufficient who never sleeps nor slumbers— our Almighty God. Paul said, I can do all things through HIM who gives me strength. Glory be to God! 

Today, put all your trust and hope in Him alone. Look to Him the Author and Finisher of your life. Set your heart on Him alone. To me that is godliness. Godliness is not perfection, that’s religion. Your perfectionism is an enemy to God. Your strength is a god in itself. Godliness is trusting in God and relying on Him. 

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6:6-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬| “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.”

If you rely on God and let Him fill you with His power, love and peace, then your soul will be in a state of contentment and that’s great gain! So you can sit on the shores of life and just enjoy the waves.
