The realities of the new creation have liberating consequences. Their ramifications are far-reaching. And if you establish your heart in them, you will constantly evolve to new heights. Metamorphosis will become a recurring feature of your daily living.
However, you must be careful to make sure that the world around you is not inducing you to stick with your old self. Discard the realities of the old self and embrace your new identity in Christ.
One day, I heard someone say, “I am a woman.”
There’s nothing wrong with that – that is, as long as you are thinking in terms of your old self. But if you’re a child of God, who wants to walk in the fullness of your divinity and realize the capacity of your new self, then you shouldn’t make statements like that.
Rather than saying, “I am a woman,” you can say, “I am a life-giving spirit.”
Now that’s better.
Because when you say, “I am a life-giving spirit,” you come into agreement with the Word of God. When you declare those words to yourself, you come into agreement with what Jesus said concerning you. Why? Because in the new creation, gender is no longer a reality.
While gender was a reality in the old creation,
“So God created man in his image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
~Genesis 1:27
It has no place in the new creation.
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
~Galatians 3:28
When you as a woman, for instance, discover yourself in Christ and realize that gender is not a reality of the new creation but of the old, you put off your old self and put on the new self just like Apostle Paul advises:
“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your mind; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
~ Ephesians 4: 22-24
It is something that you should be conscious of all the time.
So speak to yourself in terms of who you are in Christ: “I am a life-giving spirit, I am a partaker of the nature of God, I am a god.” This will help you to walk in your new creation realities. Praise God.
