As a parent, it is your responsibility to raise your children in the ways of God. One of the tools you can use to achieve this great assignment is a strong family altar. Right from day one, you should have your home church.
A strong family altar ensures that your home church meets seven days a week. For some, it is twice a day- morning and evening. Depending on what you want, you can even stretch it to thrice a day; it is your home church! This advantage of constantly having fellowship with your family safeguards them against negative external influences. It becomes extremely difficult for Satan to penetrate your family defenses.
Your family altar should be functional from the first day. While your baby is in the womb, he should start hearing the word of God. Your baby should receive the gospel while your wife is still pregnant. So you have to find out if the woman you want to get married to can declare the word of God over your child once her tummy protrudes, or whether she is the type that focuses on frivolities.
The dating period should not be wasted. It is a time to assess your partner and find out if she fits into the vision you have for your family. Is she the kind of woman that can sit down with the children and teach them the ways of the Lord? This is important to ensure you don’t have a charade for a family.
God wants to give you a great family, a great mission, and a great legacy. This is so your children will rise up and say, “Thank God for my father, Thank God for my mother, they set a solid path for my feet.” Take the pains to train your children in the ways of the Lord, and enjoy the blessings that come from having a great family.
